Did rockgrrl go around stalking climbers on twitter?

Or do you actually know me from somewhere? Hmmm... :-p

Ha, I probably found you through the "twitter friend chain" Wink

You were either replying to or following one of my other Twitter friends, glad you made it here though.

Though I guess I might also know you from somewhere Tongue

Who knows, I haven't actually climbed in months, I got sidetracked into distance running instead. Need to hit the wall again soon, though... maybe Echo or Malibu in two and a half weeks. Or maybe I'll finally tackle Pink Drips at Stoney...

My name is Lovey & I just started rock climbing back in May-private lessons at my local YMCA. I really love this sport & am also planning to try ice climbing this winter! I'm a former engineer and love the  problem-solving aspect of the sport. I wanted to take up skydiving again but the husband said its too dangerous. So here I am (gym) rock climbing! I love my climbing instructor! He's only 17 but he's been climbing for 10 yrs and is certified by the AMGA. Through him I am learning how to belay, tie different knots, rappel and above all, about safety and equipment management!

Since I started climbing, I've gotten climbing shoes, chalk bag/chalk, harness, ATC/Carabiner. This month I turn 51 and am hoping to get a Petzl Grigri for my birthday. I do indoor climbing 2-3days/week, golf 2 days/week and just started taking Zumba classes as well.

Found this forum a couple of months ago but it was closed. Sooooo glad it's open, this place is cool!

I love climbing and find it easier than golfing.  Grin

Hi Lovey and welcome! Glad you checked in for the reopening Smiley

I love your enthusiasm for climbing and I hope you get a Gri Gri present too!

By the way what's Zumba?

Hi everyone, and thanks for the invitation Eileen!

I love rock climbing but this summer I'd like to try to get into longer multipitch routes and alpine climbing.  Any advice?  I think my biggest dilemma right now is finding people who would be willing to go with someone who might not be able to run up the trail...

Hi Laurel! If you plan on coming out to CA let me know, maybe we can do some multi-pitch stuff Smiley One thing that might help you in your area is to look into multi-pitch classes, you may be able to meet some locals without regular partners. As far as running up a trail - loaded with multi-pitch gear and sometimes also backpacking gear, I certainly don't run up them either!

I also saw the REI link on FB and loved the blog!  I'm not a climber, but I'm a girl that LOVES being outside.  Your bumper sticker "Your worst nightmare is my dream vacation" is awesome!  It's not everyday that I find other women that love being away from civilization.  I'm excited about the women only board and finding out how other gals handle extended outdoor adventures.

Thanks for having this forum!!!  Great idea!

Hello all,

My name is Jessica. I'm 21 years old and I indoor climb in Louisiana.  I've been climbing off and on (mostly off) for about a year now, and I think it's time to get serious.

I have so much to learn, and it's difficult when all your climber friends are guys (thus weighted differently).  I'm looking for friends, and a mentor.  Any advice for an aspiring female climber will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ya'll  Wink
